MAGNA CARTA OF GOSPEL- BOOK OF ROMANS!

Paul, The apostle of Grace wrote this book, which is widely known as the Magna Carta of Gospel. Where he is unveiling the amazing story of a super abounding grace –Jesus Christ-and how does this dynamite power of grace make us righteous in the eyes of God … The KEY word used in this book is “Righteousness Of God” and the word Righteousness is repeated over 50 times in the   book of romans for you to understand the emphasis on this subject! This book is widely considered as the summary of Bible in 16 chapters! Holy Spirit has placed an executive summary of the Bible, in Bible itself!

The predominant theme of the Book of Romans is the righteousness of God!!—[Romans 1:1-15, 16-17]

First, the gospel is the “Power of God for the salvation” of both Jews and Gentiles.

Second, the Gospel reveals the Righteousness of God.

“This Epistle is the chief book of the New Testament, the purest gospel. It deserves not only to be known word for word by every Christian, but to be the subject of his meditation day by day, the daily bread of his soul … The more time one spends in it, the more precious it becomes and the better it appears.” He spoke of it as “a light and way into the whole Scriptures …” [Martin Luther]

The Gospel is nothing but good news about Jesus Christ and the Salvation He bought by His blood and available to all of us by His grace. The book of Roman is a masterfully written exposition on grace. This letter to the believers in Rome has changed the hearts of many as they read and understand the wonderful truths nestled inside. Paul wrote this letter to all the Christians in Rome who are loved by God and called to be Saints [Rom1:6] to explain his revelation of grace.

The primary theme running through Paul’s letter to the Romans is the revelation of God’s righteousness in His plan for salvation, what the Bible calls the gospel. That’s why in 1st chapter itself as an opening statement he declared about the truth that “He is not ashamed of this Gospel, being it as the Dynamite power of God to make any sinner Righteous, Holy and Saint!C:\Users\prmathew\Pictures\a.jpg

Paul was coming to meet up the saints in Rome after he had worked among the gentiles a good period of time. I think based on the experience and the harvest of soul he had from other gentile nations, made him to thoroughly understand the power of “GOSPEL” . The delivery system of God!  This made him to say that,

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes! First for the Jews, then for the gentiles! For in the Gospel righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written!  “The Righteous will live by faith “[Rom1:16-17]

  • Paul reiterates this so that the reader may realize that salvation cannot be attained through man’s good deeds but only through faith in God’s righteousness:
  • You cannot repair your relationship with God through your good deeds and acts; this is only accomplished through faith in the perfect and finished work of Jesus Christ.

In this book Paul showed How?

How human beings lacks God’s Righteousness because of our sin! (1–3)

How can one receive God’s Righteousness when God justifies us by faith! (4–5)

How God’s Righteousness will transform one from rebels to followers! (6–8)

Also confirm His righteousness when God saves the Jews! (9–11)

How to apply His righteousness in practical ways throughout our lives! (12–16).

The letter to the Romans stands as the clearest and most systematic presentation of Christian doctrine in all the Scriptures. Paul began by discussing that which is most easily observable in the world—the sinfulness of all humanity. All people have been condemned due to our rebellion against God. However, God in His grace offers us justification by faith in His Son, Jesus. When we are justified by God, we receive redemption, or salvation, because Christ’s blood covers our sin. But Paul made it clear that the believer’s pursuit of God doesn’t stop with salvation; it continues as each of us is sanctified—made holy—as we remaining in Him. Paul’s treatment of these issues offers a logical and complete presentation of how a person can be saved from the penalty and power of his or her sin. The writer makes it very clear in simple summary that all mankind is Sinners! And the Solution can be given by God only and that solution is Jesus Christ and His Righteousness!

Chapter 1-8:- Paul explains the fundamentals and foundations of the Christian faith. This is the Gospel Message, which all believers are commanded to share with the entire world. Some of the most popular and precious memorization passages about Salvation can be found in the first several chapters of Romans, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (6:23). Paul teaches about the sinful nature of all men in the eyes of God, justification by faith in Jesus Christ, freedom from sin, and victory in Christ.

Chapter -9-11:- Paul explains God’s sovereignty over salvation. He also spells out how an individual may come into a right relationship with God: “if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” (10:13). Place your faith and trust only in what Jesus Christ has already done on the cross and make Him the Master of your life and trust He raised Himself from the grave conquering death. His promise is “You will be saved”.

Chapter 12-16:- Paul gives instructions for all Christians about how to live a holy lifestyle. In the beginning of chapter 12 he writes, “Present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice”, and “Do not be conformed to this world” .Much of the errors and trials that Paul dealt with in his “Epistles”, were because the believers had conformed their lives to the world and not to God.
