God instructed and revealed the plan for the Ark of the Covenant to the Children of Israel through Moses after they were redeemed from Egypt [Place of oppression- The word meaning of Egypt], crossed the Red sea and travelled through the wilderness towards the Promised Land -Canaan.
This was a shadow given in the old testament were the redemption of the Israelites through the Passover and the way God brought them out of Egypt and gave the promised land. In this article let us see, how the Ark of the Covenant which was a type of Christ in the new covenant is carried by the believers in Christ!

As we know we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus from our old sin life and crossed the red sea by partaking in the death of Jesus Christ by taking the water baptism and resurrected along with Jesus Christ and become a New Creation in Him. Now we are in our earthly walk, in the worldly wilderness towards our heavenly resting place, the Promised Land.
“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.[Romans 6:4)
2.God revealed us the significance of the Ark of the Covenant when we walk along with Him as a child of God.
As God has shown and instructed the children of Israel about the tabernacle and the pattern of the Ark of the covenant which is one of the first made object in the tabernacle, God revealed us that “He is dwelling in us -The Emmanuel” God with us or within us and we are carrying the Ark of the Covenant, we being the temple of God in the New Creation! The revelation knowledge of Christ is been given or revealed only to the Children of God. Or the secret of Christianity is a revelation for the Kingdom people of God! Those are the Christians! The living organ of the Kingdom of God! The most powerful organization in the universe! In the New covenant in Christ, the Body of Christ is the tabernacle or the temple of God where God’s glory dwell. And we are that tabernacle of God!
“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?(1Cor 3:16)
“..that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.(1 Col 1:26,27)”
3.We become a New Creation in Christ in the New Covenant by believing in Him and receiving Him as our Lord and savior.
Our Lord Jesus Christ redeemed or bought us from the world of Sin by His precious blood .He made us a New Creation in Him. We have received the Holy Spirit as a free gift from God who is our new Spirit indwelling in our Body! The spirit of the Holy God living in the human body, the tabernacle of God! Every true Christians who are born again in Spirit is a new creation in the Kingdom of God! We are a spirit being living in the flesh suit for a time being. We are a NEW CREATION in CHRIST! Born of Water and Spirit! Know this for sure that you are not a ordinary person in the spiritual realm. You are a child of the living God! A family member of Heaven, A citizenship of Heavenly Jerusalem! A Joint heir with Jesus Christ!
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Cor 5:17)
4.The church or the Christians are the Royal Priesthood of the Living God! Ministering in the planet earth as a living testimony for the Living God!
Christians are the divinely chosen and the treasured possession of God in this planet earth with the identity as the children of God or the Citizen of the Kingdom of God- Just like the physical nation of Israel is the treasured and chosen people of God in this planet earth. We are the new covenant Royal Priests of God who carries Christ in us. The new Covenant Ark! Yes! We are the people in the new covenant whose veils are taken away in Christ. Who are authorized to carry the Ark of the Covenant!
” But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.[1 Pet 2:9]
5.Christians are the New covenant priest who are authorized to carry the Ark of the Covenant!
In the old testament Bible only the Priests of Israel were allowed to carry the Ark of the Covenant to show that under the New covenant only the divinely illuminated or the saints of Christ are conscious of the ever-presence of the Christ (Christ Centered, Christ first) within their hearts and minds and walk by the Spiritual guidance of the God. Or the true Christians are the one who reckons the power of the Spirit in them and exercise it as and when required. Over the mountains of their own life and to give the deliverance for others by the divine authority they receive from Jesus Christ!
“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.[Luke 10 :19]
In the shadow type, when the old covenant priests who carries the Ark of the Covenant were victorious and able to conquer the impossible in their ways! Supernatural or divine examples like the priests who carried the Ark of the Covenant destroyed Jericho by blowing trumpets in the Bible is a display of the power of the Ark of the Covenant. The first city that was conquered with the aid of the Ark of the Covenant was Jericho. Joshua told Israel to march around the walls of Jericho six days while the priests carried the Ark (Jos. 6:3-4). On the seventh day the priests blew the horns, the people shouted, and the walls of Jericho came tumbling down (Jos. 6:15-16).
“It shall come about when the soles of the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan will be cut off, and the waters which are flowing down from above will stand in one heap.”[Joshua 3:13]
Another interesting story was that the children of Israel crossed the river Jordan by following the priests who carried the Ark
“Then the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan; and all Israel crossed over on dry ground, until all the people had crossed completely over the Jordan” (Joshua 3:17)
Similarly in the New Covenant the disciples of Jesus Christ who is carrying Christ have performed many signs and miracles to confirm the supernatural power of the Ark of the Covenant ..
“The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people.” Acts 5:12
The same is continued today all over the world through us –the apostles and the prophets of our Lord Jesus Christ!
6.God anointed His children, the believers to be a light and glory for the God in the planet earth for the rest of the people to see and KNOW God and be saved!
” At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to him, and to bless in his name, to this day. Deuteronomy 10:8.1 Chronicles 15:2,26,27.Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them has the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister to him forever.”
Summary
- Today in New covenant, Jesus Christ has fulfilled the shadow of the old Covenant Ark of the Covenant typology and revealed us that “HE is the True Ark of The Covenant”.
- In the old the Levites were designated as the priests to carry the Ark of the Covenant and minister before God for the people of Israel, but in the N.C. the believers are expected to diligently attend daily to God’s Word and yield promptly and continuously to the leading and prompting of God’s Spirit (Col. 3:16, 1 Thess. 5:19, Gal. 5:25).
- Believers are expected to walk by faith in the conscious knowing what they carry with them inside of their spirit, The Ark of the Covenant, the supernatural miracle working dynamite power of God! This is able to part the river and plain the mountains!
- All the born-again believers are minister to God as His priests by yielding, offering, or presenting members of their body as instruments of righteousness to God (Rom. 6:19).
- As a believer, it is expected from you to reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 6:11 ) .
- We are told to offer, present, or yield our bodies to God as a living sacrifice (Rom. 12:1).
- God anointed us to minister on His behalf as a powerful witness to Jesus Christ to the dying world and bring them into the light of the Living God! The mandate God entrusted on every priests of Him. You and me!
